Lactic Dehydrogenase (LDH) – Fluid

The LDH Fluid test measures the levels of Lactic Dehydrogenase, an enzyme found in cells, in body fluids such as pleural, peritoneal, or pericardial fluid. Elevated LDH levels in fluid can indicate infection, inflammation, malignancy, or tissue damage. This test is commonly used to differentiate between transudative and exudative effusions in cases of pleural effusion or other fluid accumulations, aiding in the diagnosis of underlying conditions like infections, cancer, or organ failure.
