Lactate – CSF (Cerebrospinal Fluid)

The Lactate-CSF test measures the concentration of lactic acid in cerebrospinal fluid. It is used to differentiate between bacterial and viral meningitis and to evaluate other central nervous system disorders. Elevated CSF lactate levels are often associated with bacterial infections, tissue hypoxia, or mitochondrial disorders, while normal levels are typically seen in viral infections.
