Thyroid Profile (TFT)
A Thyroid Function Test (TFT) or Thyroid Profile measures the levels of thyroid hormones in the blood, typically including:

1. TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) : A hormone produced by the pituitary gland that regulates thyroid function. High or low TSH levels can indicate an underactive or overactive thyroid.

2. T3 (Triiodothyronine) : The active thyroid hormone that influences metabolism, heart rate, and body temperature.

3. T4 (Thyroxine) : The main hormone produced by the thyroid gland, which is converted into the more active T3 in the body.

The thyroid profile helps diagnose hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid), hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid), and other thyroid disorders, such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis or Graves’ disease . It can also be used to monitor the effectiveness of thyroid treatments or medications. The test is important for assessing the thyroid’s role in metabolism and overall endocrine health.
