REDUCING SUBSTANCES- STOOL

Test Description: Reducing Substances – Stool
The Reducing Substances Stool test detects the presence of sugars, such as glucose, lactose, and other undigested carbohydrates, in the stool. Normally, these substances are absorbed in the intestines, but when the digestive system is unable to fully break them down (due to enzyme deficiencies, malabsorption disorders, or infections), they pass into the stool. This test is often used to evaluate conditions such as lactose intolerance, malabsorption syndromes, or gastrointestinal infections. The presence of reducing substances can indicate poor digestion or absorption of certain nutrients.
