Test Description: P-ANCA (MPO)

The P-ANCA (Perinuclear Anti-Neutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibodies) test detects antibodies against myeloperoxidase (MPO), an enzyme found in white blood cells. It is primarily used to aid in the diagnosis of autoimmune disorders such as vasculitis, particularly microscopic polyangiitis and other inflammatory conditions. Elevated P-ANCA levels may indicate immune system activity against vascular tissues. This test is valuable for assessing unexplained inflammation or suspected autoimmune disease.
