Lactate

The Lactate test measures the concentration of lactic acid in the blood. Lactic acid is a byproduct of anaerobic metabolism, typically produced when oxygen levels in tissues are low. Elevated lactate levels may indicate conditions such as sepsis, tissue hypoxia, heart failure, or other metabolic disorders. This test is often used in critical care settings to monitor patients with suspected tissue oxygenation issues, shock, or metabolic acidosis.
