Hepatitis B Core Antibody IgM (Anti-HBc IgM) Test :
A blood test that detects the presence of IgM antibodies to the core antigen of the Hepatitis B virus (HBV). Anti-HBc IgM is produced early in the immune response, typically during acute or recent infection with Hepatitis B. A positive result indicates a recent or acute Hepatitis B infection , while a negative result suggests that the person has either not been infected recently or is in a chronic phase of infection.

This test is used to differentiate between acute and chronic Hepatitis B, as IgM antibodies are typically not present in chronic infection.
