The Anti-Phospholipid Antibody, IgA test detects IgA antibodies that target phospholipids, which are components of cell membranes. Elevated levels of these antibodies can be associated with antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), an autoimmune disorder that increases the risk of blood clots, recurrent miscarriages, and other complications. The presence of IgA antibodies may be less common than IgG or IgM in APS but can still contribute to the diagnosis. A blood sample is required for this test, which helps assess the risk of clotting and related issues in patients with autoimmune diseases.
