LE Cells

LE Cells, or Lupus Erythematosus Cells, are a type of white blood cell found in the blood of individuals with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), an autoimmune disorder. These cells form when neutrophils ingest the nuclear material of other cells, often from damaged or dying cells, creating a distinct appearance under the microscope. The presence of LE cells is considered a characteristic finding in lupus, though it is not exclusive to the condition. This test can help in diagnosing lupus and assessing the severity of the disease.
