Hepatitis B Core Antibody Total (Anti-HBc Total) Test :
A blood test that detects total antibodies (IgM and IgG) to the core antigen of the Hepatitis B virus (HBV). The presence of Anti-HBc Total indicates past or current infection with Hepatitis B. This test does not distinguish between acute or chronic infection, as both IgM and IgG antibodies are detected.

– Positive result : Suggests exposure to Hepatitis B at some point in the past or a current infection (acute or chronic).
– Negative result : Suggests no previous exposure to the virus.

It is commonly used in conjunction with other Hepatitis B markers (like HBsAg, Anti-HBs) to provide a more complete picture of a person’s Hepatitis B status.
