Hepatitis C Virus (HCV Antibody) IgM Test :
A blood test that detects the presence of IgM antibodies to the Hepatitis C virus (HCV). IgM antibodies are produced early in the immune response during an acute or recent infection with HCV. A positive IgM result typically indicates an active or recent Hepatitis C infection. It is used to help diagnose acute Hepatitis C , distinguish between a new infection and a past exposure (which would show IgG antibodies), and monitor the course of the infection.
