Hepatitis C Antibody (HCV Antibody) Test :
A blood test that detects antibodies to the Hepatitis C virus (HCV). The presence of HCV antibodies indicates that a person has been exposed to the virus at some point in their life. However, it does not confirm an active infection. A positive result means the person may have been infected with HCV, but further tests (such as HCV RNA testing) are needed to determine whether the infection is current or if the body has cleared the virus on its own. This test is commonly used as an initial screening tool for Hepatitis C.
