Bile Acid Total Test
The Total Bile Acid test measures the amount of bile acids present in the blood. Bile acids are produced by the liver and are essential for digestion and absorption of fats in the small intestine. After being synthesized in the liver, bile acids are stored in the gallbladder and released into the intestines after eating. They are eventually reabsorbed and returned to the liver through the bloodstream.
